Compatriot Noel Rogers Passes Away
Noel Perry Rogers, Jr., 45, of North Charleston, SC went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2012 following a long battle with cancer. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Deer Park Baptist Church, 8875 University Blvd., North Charleston, Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. Bad Weather Reschedules Memorial Service
The H L Hunley Camp Confederate Memorial Day service scheduled for Saturday, May 19th at Boone Hill Cemetery has been rescheduled due to inclimate weather.
The Memorial service will move back one week to Saturday, May 26th at 9:00 am at the Boone Hill Cemetery. Those that were planning on helping with the chairs and tables tomorrow, please plan on meeting at the lodge next Saturday the 26th at 7:00 am so we can get them to the cemetery and set up before 8:30 am.

Real Son Arthur John Passes
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the world, lost its oldest living “Real Son” of a Confederate veteran yesterday with the death of Mr. Arthur John, 106 year old son of Joseph John, 1st Sergeant, Company “K”, 54th Virginia Infantry Regiment.
Mr. John was a ‘Life Member’ and Historian of the ‘William Kenyon Australasian Confederates’, Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 2160 in Australia. Sadly, after a long and eventful life, Arthur passed away peacefully in his sleep at 7.35 am Tuesday Australian time. Continue reading
3rd Annual Gail Ilderton Couch Golf Tournament
The H.L. Hunley Camp #143 of Summerville, South Carolina will be hosting the Third Annual Gail Ilderton Couch Golf Tournament on April 29, 2012, 1:00 PM at Legend Oaks Country Club, Summerville, South Carolina. All proceeds from this tournament will be used to fund our camp public service programs such as college scholarships, Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) award programs, living histories and research of the submarine H.L. Couple finds UCV Iron Cross grave marker on their property
SPRINGFIELD, SC — Wayne and Lydia Lackey of Springfield say it’s not unusual for them to find artifacts on their property, known originally as Phillips Plantation,” but what they dug up recently has them puzzled. Wayne Lackey said he was planning to put in a corn field and had just tilled up an area when his wife, Lydia, pulled up a United Confederate Veterans Iron Cross. (more…)

Camp Memorial Day Service 2012
The HL Hunley Camp #143 will hold their annual Confederate Memorial Day Service at Boone Hill Cemetery on Saturday May 19th @ 9am in the morning. A cleanup of the cemetery will be on Saturday April 28th starting at 8am.
